Geography

The landscape of New York is composed of plains and the Appalachian Mountains which cover half of the state. The land around is mostly dominated by large trees large lakes, rivers and rocky landscape. This was a wise place to build homes and raise a colony since there were many resources around. A huge benefit was trapping and getting furs to sell and trade. The untouched landscape also had perfect soil to farm crops and it always rained in the summer and snowed in the winter. Another huge benefit was the climate which varied on the altitude. The summers were hot perfect for planting and the winters were cold. All of these benefits are what made the colony grow bigger over the years. All these resources caused good word and people started moving to New York for a better lifestyle.
